Strong investor interest as Ellevio issued new green bond

Press releases

Ellevio AB (publ) has issued another green bond under its EMTN programme. This time, EUR 500 million (approximately SEK 5.5 billion) was offered to investors. Interest was strong, with participation from many of Europe’s leading institutional bond investors.

Proceeds from the bond will be used to finance or refinance projects that contribute to the EU’s climate goals, in line with Ellevio’s Green Financing Framework from May 2023. The framework is aligned with the EU Taxonomy and has been reviewed by the research institute ISS ESG.

Ellevio’s electricity distribution operations are a key enabler of the transition to electrification. The company has a clear sustainability profile, a stable business model, and a solid financial position.

– We are pleased with the strong interest from many of Europe’s leading bond investors. This provides a solid foundation going forward. Ellevio plans to return to the market at regular intervals in the coming years to secure financing for the necessary expansion and modernisation of Sweden’s energy system, says Jan Seveborg, Head of Treasury at Ellevio.

The bond carries a fixed annual coupon of 3.75 percent and matures on 14 May 2035. It is listed on the Irish Stock Exchange, Euronext Dublin.

Joint bookrunners on the bond issue were BNP Paribas, Danske Bank, Crédit Agricole CIB and Nordea.

A complete list of Ellevio’s public bonds is available on the company’s website.
