Two people have died while working on Ellevio's electricity network in Tyfors, Ludvika. The police are currently undertaking a technical investigation on site. "The unthinkable has happened. Two people have passed away, and our thoughts go out to their families, friends and colleagues," says Ellevio's CEO Johan Lindehag.
The accident happened earlier this afternoon at one of Ellevio's facilities in Tyfors. A project involving the renovation of the electricity network has been in progress, and the two individuals in question were a part of the project workforce. The exact details of the accident are as yet undetermined. The two individuals were employed by a sub-contractor engaged by Ellevio.
"I am deeply saddened by this heartbreaking event and my thoughts go out at this moment to the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased," says Johan Lindehag, CEO of Ellevio. "Safety is always our number one priority and any accident represents a profound failure. This is a truly harrowing day for us all," says Johan Lindehag.
The accident is now under investigation by the Police and Arbetsmiljöverket (the Swedish Work Environment Authority), according to established routines. Ellevio will readily provide all necessary resources, to gain an understanding of the course of events and to assist the investigations to the full possible extent. Ellevio has also started a separate internal investigation.
