Ellevio has during the spring launched the biggest investment program ever into its network, with the objective of maintaining and increasing quality of electricity supply for all customers, both in rural areas and in Stockholm. In total the investments amount to more than 9 billion SEK during the coming four years. To be able carry through these investments the network fees will be increased by approx 9 percent as of 1 June 2016, representing an average increase by 12 kronor/month for a customer in an apartment, and 75 kronor/month for a customer in an electricity heated villa.
– With these investments, we take responsibility to continue to give our customers a high quality of electricity delivery also in the future. Customers' and society's expectations and demands on us continue to increase and to be able to live up to these high expectations and demands on us and our network we need to raise network fees to finance needed investments, said Ellevio's CEO Johan Lindehag.
Ellevio has appr 910,000 customers, spread over network areas in Stockholm, Värmland, the west coast, Skaraborg, Gävleborg, Dalarna and Närke. During the spring, a vigorous investment has been launched to renew, improve, and increase capacity in the networks. A large part of the network we have in Sweden today is approaching the end of its life time. Therefore we will in the coming years work hard to replace and modernize these parts of the network and different components and switchgear.
– In the countryside a big part of the investment is about renewal and to continue the weather proofing that we launched after the storm Gudrun in 2005, so that the networks are unaffected by storms or hard weather. Ever since Gudrun, we have weather proofed 11,000 km of power lines, but a lot of hard work remains. Concretely, it is primarily about replacing un-isolated overhead lines with cables that we dig into the ground, Lindehag explained.
– In Stockholm the investment is about renewal and to enable the city to continue to grow. People move to Stockholm, new companies establish themselves in Stockholm, server halls, malls and residential areas are built and to avoid becoming a stumbling block, we need to increase capacity. Stockholm county is expected to have 2.6 million inhabitants already by 2030, and it requires a lot of work also from our side, said Johan Lindehag.
The average increase for a customer in an apartment is 12 kronor per month and for a customer in a normal sized electricity heated villa 75 kronor per month. See more details in the table below. For business customers with a power tariff the increase varies with the company's electricity consumption. More information is available on Ellevio.se/nyttpris.
